FORT WAYNE, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter)-Halloween isn’t usually a huge decorating event, but don’t tell Kevin Morse.

The Morse property on Fort Wayne’s Dalewood Drive is arguably the most lavish display of Halloweenieness you’ll run across in this town. But it all began miles away, at Kevin’s parent’s Illinois home thirty years ago when his folks started churning out tombstones.

“Dad cuts them up in the garage,” Kevin says, “and mom puts ‘em together and they show up in the yard.”

Over three hundred tombstones now make up the collection. Kevin’s mom comes up with the pithy inscriptions.

“Any politician’s fair game,” he says. “Dead or alive you could end up in this graveyard.”

Al Gore’s here…so is Rush Limbaugh, or Hush Limbaugh. Don’t wake him up. Abe Lincoln’s here, too along with his checklist.

“He grew the beard,” Kevin says, “he freed the slaves he thought up a clever phrase for 87 years ago but he forgot to beef up security at ford’s theatre. This is pet cemetery over here. Everyone’s got that part of their yard where that favorite pet has been buried and my mom took it to one level higher.”

Even that goldfish you flushed down the toilet years ago is here. Kevin’s put out the display for a couple of years now, he says the neighbors like it and that’s good because his parents are coming for a visit soon and bringing some new tombstones with them, so the display’s only going to grow.

“My wife and my oldest son were actually scoping out the yard on the south side of the house trying to figure how to wrap it around on that side.” Kevin says. “Some people you know Halloween is kind of one of those holidays maybe they like it maybe they don’t but this is designed to appeal to everybody of all ages and to just be a lot of fun.”
