KENDALLVILLE, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter)--It’s a never ending quest for journalists these days, the search for positive stories to write. Not just shallow happy-happy pieces but real stories, from main street, about good people doing good things.

Summer: I love books…I was the only third grader who when somebody asked ‘What do you want to do when you grow up?” I would say “I want to own a bookstore’.

Summer Moser is good people, a farm wife, mother of two toddlers and small business owner. For four years Summer has owned and operated Summer’s Stories Bookstore in Kendallville, fulfilling her dream to surround herself with books.

Summer: I think good books have the ability to sometimes touch you lives and change the way you think…and make you a better person. Hi, if I can help you find anything just let me know.

Summer’s Stories is an anomaly these days, a small independent bookstore in an economically depressed town that operates in the black. Part of its success is the variety it offers.

Summer: Your regular fiction, non-fiction children’s books, young adults…We have a little bit of everything.

But we suspect most of the stores success is due to Summr herself, upbeat, full of energy…here putting daughter Lily down for her morning nap. Yes, Summer parents her kids while she minds the store. And there’s more to her than even all this; Summer Moser just became a published author.

Summer: It’s about imagination and friendship and the bond between a person and their pet.

“The Adventures of Mackenzie the Pug”, a children’s book hot off the presses, is about the unbelievable adventures of Summer’s pug dog Mackenzie that she had in high school.

Summer: She annoyed the heck out of my brother Zack. And so I would always make ridiculous stories that would just make him crazy..you know like I’d come home from school and go like ‘Oh did you hear what Mackenzie did? She was training for the Tour do France with Lance Armstrong!”

Mackenzie’s antics are a great read for kids, a story from the heart of someone who knows what touches people’s hearts, and has the energy to make it all happen. Eric Olson out in ‘Your Country’.
