FORT WAYNE, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter)--LIKE MANY SMALL TOWNS LIGONIER INDIANA IS STRUGGLING..ITS ONCE MIGHTY MAIN STREET FIGHTING TO KEEP STORE FRONTS FULL AND DOWNTOWN RELEVANT. FOR DECADES THE BIG BRICK FACTORIES THAT ONCE PUMPED THE TOWN’S ECONOMIC LIFEBLOOD HAVE STOOD EMPTY…BUT THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THIS TOWN WITH VERY HIGH HOPES.

Tami: When we actually went inside and looked it was very sound you know for as long as it’s sat there, very doable.

WHAT’S DOABLE, THESE FOLKS HOPE, IS A REBIRTH OF THE OLD MIER CARRIAGE AND BUGGY FACTORY. THE BUILDING STARTED LIFE IN THE 1800’S PRODUCING HORSE DRAWN BUGGIES, SWITCHING TO AUTOMOBILES IN THE 1910’S. DURING THE DEPRESSION IT HOUSED THE MASTER GARMENT FACTORY, EMPLOYING THOUSANDS OF LOCAL WOMEN. IT’S SAT EMPTY FOR FIFTY YEARS AND NOW TAMI KREAGER AND FRIENDS WANT TO CREATE OUT OF IT THE DISCOVERY EXPRESS HISTORY AND SCIENCE MUSEUM…A MUSEUM DEDICATED TO THE THEORY OF BIBLICAL CREATIONISM.

Tami: What we’re doing is showing that the Bible is full of science. Astrology, how did the wise men know where to find the baby, that book is full of science.

TAMI KREAGER ENVISIONS EXHIBITS ON NOAH’S ARK, THE GARDEN OF EDEN…AND WHAT WAS CREATED WHEN DURING THE SIX DAYS GOD CREATED HEAVEN AND EARTH. CREATING A HANDS-ON MUSEUM OUT OF TENS OF THOUSANDS OF SQUARE FEET OF RUIN MIGHT ITSELF TAKE A MIRACLE. IT’LL CERTAINLY TAKE MONEY…TEN MILLION DOLLARS ACCORDING TO TAMI….HER GROUP HAS FIVE THOUSAND SO FAR. BUT THERE ARE LOTS OF VOLUNTEERS ANXIOUS TO HELP AND LOTS OF GOOD WILL. TIME WILL TELL IF THEIR HOPES ARE THE ANSWER TO THIS SMALL TOWN’S PRAYERS. ERIC OLSON OUT IN YOUR COUNTRY.
