Katie graduated from Illinois State University in 2000 with a degree in broadcast journalism. While studying at ISU, she worked for 3 years as a reporter, anchor and producer for the campus news station TV-10. She received the Achievement Award for “Best On-Air” from her graduating class.
Katie then moved to Chicago and began working in TV sales. She was employed at Telerep (2001-2003) and Fox Station Sales (2003-2005).
Katie met her husband, Bill while living in Chicago. After they were married they moved to the Fort Wayne area where he grew up. They have two sons and have lived here since 2005.
Katie started her career at WISE in 2005 as a Local Sales Account Executive. Katie returned to Indiana’s NewsCenter in 2010 as the National Sales Coordinator. Katie is thrilled to be back in the newsroom. “Being on the broadcast side of things on NBC33 is where I’m supposed to be. I feel extremely lucky to have this opportunity to pursue what was my original dream.”
It’s important to Katie to be involved in the community. She helps out with local charities close to her heart by speaking on behalf of Riley’s Hospital for Children. Also, she personally raised over $3200 and ran on Team Ronald McDonald House in the Chicago Marathon in October 2012.
You can see Katie’s forecasts on NBC33 News at 4, 6 and 11 - working side by-side-with anchor Krista Miller, and co-hosts Kent Hormann and Eric DeFreeuw.
