Eric DeFreeuw

Anchor/ Reporter

Eric DeFreeuw has been with NBC33 since October, 2012, as a Multimedia Journalist. Eric is thrilled to be back in his hometown of Fort Wayne after having spent the past three years living and working in Chicago.

Now, he's co-anchor of NBC33 News at 4 and 6 - working side by-side-with anchor Krista Miller and forecaster Katie Law.

After graduating from Homestead High School, where his love of broadcast journalism really began, Eric attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, majoring in Communications. While there he served as a News and Sports anchor for the school’s television station (D3TV), as well as News Director for the student radio station (WGRE). During college, Eric also participated in two News internships at 21Alive.

Sports have always been a big part of Eric’s life. In the three years he spent living in Chicago Eric became a big Bears and Blackhawks fan. He says “it’s impossible to live in Chicago and not fall in love with their sports teams. Everybody there is so passionate!” But when it comes to being passionate, nothing compares to the way Eric feels about the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish!
