Eric DeFreeuw returns to his hometown of Fort Wayne after spending several years living and working in Chicago.
His broadcasting career began while working with the TV and radio programs at Homestead High School. He served as color commentator on WCYT covering Spartan basketball, baseball, and softball games while maintaining his daily news and DJ roles.
He is a DePauw University graduate with a major in Communications. During his four years in Greencastle, Eric served as a news and sports anchor for the school’s television station - D3TV, as well as news director for the student radio station - WGRE.
Since October 2012, Eric has served as co-anchor of NBC33 News at 4 and 6 alongside co-anchor Krista Miller and forecaster Katie Law.
Aside from his interests in news, Eric is a huge sports fan and loves cheering on the Braves, Bears, and Blackhawks. But his top team will always be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In his spare time, Eric also plays in many recreational sports leagues across Fort Wayne.
Eric married his wife Jessie in September 2014 and shares their home with two cats (Frannie and Zoey) and a dog (Kenzie).
